Australian's aged 21 and OVER deserve the SAME support to make Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Affordable for ALL that live with Type 1 Diabetes. CGM's save lives!

CGM technology substantially reduces complications for those living with Type 1 diabetes  saving the Government money in the long run by reducing the serious and often life threatening health conditions including Nerve damage, kidney damage, eye damage, foot damage, skin and mouth conditions, heart and blood vessel diseases as well as the mental health impacts.

The Australian Government helped change the lives of young Australians under 21, some health care card holders and pregnant and planning women living with Type 1 diabetes by funding Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM). This technology not only assists with their day to day management it also acts as a life saver by alerting both the wearer and a secondary alarm of very low/high blood sugar. Severe Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) during sleep can be deadly. Many Australians living with Type 1 diabetes are fearful of not waking up. They also live 24 hours a day with the need to keep their blood sugar levels stable. Unlike Type 2 diabetes diet and exercise cannot reverse the disease. There is no cure and without daily Insulin, those with Type 1 diabetes will die.

The DANII Foundation exists to support every Australian living with Type 1 diabetes. We say #NoMoreFEAR. Every Australian with Type 1 diabetes deserves to go to bed without fear. CGM is the only technology that can prevent 'Dead in Bed' Syndrome

We ask that Federal Health Minister establish funding priority for Continuous Glucose Monitoring for ALL Australian's, recognising that public funding must place technology with life saving capacity first.

The DANII Foundation exists as a result of the death of 17 year old Daniella Meads-Barlow. Daniella had Type 1 diabetes and died as a result of Dead in Bed. She went to bed otherwise healthy. CGM would have saved Daniella's life.
